Description
Kirambo Washing Station Nyamasheke Region
Kirambo – Rwanda It is a coffee originating from the region of Nyamasheke, In the southwest of the country, an area marked by the direct influence of Lake Kivu, the combination of altitude, volcanic soils, and a humid and stable climate creates an environment especially suitable for growing high-quality coffee with slow and consistent ripening.
Coffee is processed in the Kirambo Car Wash Station, Built in 2008 on a hillside sloping down to the lake, the station began operating continuously in 2018 after several years of irregular operation, when it was acquired by the Rwanda Trading Company. Since then, Kirambo has gained stability and a clear focus on cherry selection and process control, working with small family farmers in the area.
The plots that supply the station are small, with coffee plants of Red Bourbon grown at high altitudes. The work is supported by agronomic training programs and improved practices, aimed at maintaining coffee quality and ensuring the long-term viability of the farms.
In this batch, processing is done by natural route. The cherries are hand-picked, sorted, and slowly dried on raised beds for approximately 15 to 22 days. The entire process is constantly monitored to ensure even ripening and preserve the cherries' integrity.
Kirambo – Rwanda is a coffee that reflects the style of the region well: carefully crafted, without excesses, and with a clear identity linked to the place and the season in which it is processed.
