Description
Don Efraín
José Efraín Urquía
Don Efraín recalls that his beginnings as a producer were on plots that were not owned by him or his family; he was a day laborer. He also recalls that in 2000, a group of producers were organizing to create a company to work in the coffee industry; at the time, he owned nothing.
COMSA was founded in 2001, and Don Efraín is one of the 61 producers who had the vision to do things differently.
Since he was a child, Don Efraín thought about having his own plot of land. So when he could, he bought it and planted 300 yellow catuaí coffee plants. "It wasn't easy at first, but with a lot of effort and discipline, I achieved my goal. Now I'm very happy with my plot of land," he tells us with great emotion. "For me, producing coffee is a source of satisfaction, and I do it with joy knowing that people from different countries will have the opportunity to meet me. Through COMSA, which has given so much to me, today I can say that my greatest satisfaction is producing in balance with the environment. What I like most is protecting it and caring for the species that live within my plot.
For our European friends who consume our coffee, I can only say that it's a pleasure for me to share part of my story, not only as a person but also as a company. Our product is produced with environmental responsibility, which gives it superior quality.
Prosecution
This process is very short, the wine-red colored beans are harvested and selected. After the harvesting process, the coffee is reviewed to prevent the appearance of damaged beans. Once selected, it is placed in the solar dryer where it will remain for 20 to 30 days, until it reaches the desired humidity. The period will depend on the climate that prevails at that time.
