Bensa Kokosa - Ethiopia

Sidamo is not only a region of great economic importance, but also a place of profound cultural significance. Coffee here is not simply a crop; it is an integral part of daily life and local traditions. Each cup of Sidamo coffee is a story of generations dedicated to the mastery of its production.

Coffee Grown with Tradition

Sidamo takes its name from an ethnic group in the southeast of the country. Here, the coffees grow under the shade of forest trees and are hand-picked, preserving a centuries-old tradition. Local farmers meticulously tend their plantations, ensuring each bean is of the highest quality.

Sidamo's fertile soils and ideal climate provide the perfect conditions for growing specialty coffee. This translates into cups of coffee that offer an enticing floral fragrance, with nuances of soft tea, caramel, walnut, and white flower, all supported by a robust body and vibrant acidity that make these beans exceptional.

Passion for Quality

Heleanna Georgalis has led the company since 2008 and is deeply committed to the quality of the coffee she exports. Following her father's legacy, Heleanna immerses herself in the third wave of coffee, experimenting with the processes and enjoying the results. Her passion for coffee goes beyond business; it is a personal devotion that drives her company to maintain the highest standards.

Conservation of Singularity

A fundamental aspect of Ethiopian coffee is its "non-genetic modification." Ethiopia is home to thousands of unexplored varieties, while the well-known ones remain intact. The uniqueness of these coffees lies in the growing area, with names that reflect years of growth and a unique, characteristic flavor.

Each cup of Sidamo coffee is a living testament to Ethiopia's rich coffee heritage, where varieties are region-specific and scientists have recognized 37 varieties, 34 of which are natural. We often find Ethiopian coffee as being of the Heirloom variety, which means "ancient root." This doesn't define the variety itself, but rather is a generic term that highlights the tradition and distinctive flavor of the region.

The birthplace of coffee, Ethiopia, remains an untapped treasure trove of flavors and aromas, and Heleanna Georgalis is proud to keep this legacy of authenticity and diversity alive in every cup that reaches your table.
