A Legacy of Passion and Coffee Pioneers: «La Cabaña – Colombia»
Nestled in the highlands of Huila, Finca La Cabaña safeguards not only coffee crops but also a rich family history passed down through generations. Since its beginnings in 1965, when Libardo Ortiz's grandfather planted the first coffee seeds, this farm has been the heart of the Ortiz family. With Libardo at the helm, and his gentlemanly nature, he has instilled in his sons, William and Julián, a deep devotion to coffee. This shared passion has driven the family to work together, overcoming the challenges of the land and the market, to achieve technical coffee education while being involved in every step of the cultivation process.
William Ortiz, a third-generation coffee farmer, shares his vision and journey in the world of specialty coffee. From childhood, surrounded by coffee plantations, William learned not only about coffee farming but also about its economic challenges. Despite market fluctuations and limited rural development opportunities, his interest in coffee ignited at age 15, marking the beginning of his dedication to exploring and improving coffee cultivation and processing techniques.

Today, William is at the forefront of innovation on the farm. Although initially reluctant to follow his parents' traditional methods, his curiosity and education led him to experiment with different fermentation processes. This quest to improve coffee quality has driven him to adopt innovative practices, focusing on the added value that coffee can offer through unconventional methods. Thanks to his effort and determination, William has begun to see the fruits of his labor, managing his own coffee plantations and experimenting with techniques that significantly improve the coffee's flavor profile.
Innovative Processes for Exceptional Coffee
La Cabaña – Colombia, under William's management, now stands out for its focus on standardized fermentations that enrich the coffee with more complex and distinctive flavors. These advanced fermentation techniques have begun to yield promising results, raising the quality of the coffee and positioning the farm as a benchmark in specialty coffee production in Colombia.
This commitment to quality and innovation not only reflects the Ortiz family legacy but also promises to take Finca La Cabaña to new heights in the world of coffee. Every bean grown on this land is a testament to the harmony between tradition and modernity, between a family's passion and the promise of a brighter future for the coffee industry.
