Mr. Carmelino Morales has worked on the farm for several years, greatly improving the soil's edaphology. Unlike other places in the department of Huehuetenango, Colotenango has a different soil with very little organic matter, which means the plant is affected by drought in the summer.
Finca Arroyo Seco has managed to improve its quality thanks to the cultural efforts we've implemented, such as weaving, shade management, living barriers, and, most importantly, the incorporation of organic matter. With the latter, we've helped the plant retain more moisture and withstand the harsh summer weather.
