Description
Aricha – Ethiopia
Aricha – Ethiopia originates in Yirgacheffe, one of the most iconic coffee regions in the world. For decades, its name has been synonymous with complexity and elegance in the cup, to the point of becoming a benchmark for specialty coffee lovers. Within this region, Aricha has developed its own identity thanks to the altitude, fertile soils, and a coffee culture deeply rooted in the local communities.
Cultivation here is carried out traditionally, on small family plots under the shade of plane trees. The Konga Yirgacheffe washing station, with 200 drying beds, concentrates the work of dozens of farmers who, between November and January, deliver their cherries for processing. Fermentation takes place in barrels for nine days, followed by a slow drying period of thirteen to eighteen days, preserving the essence of the terroir even in years of heavy rainfall that complicate the task.
This batch is part of a collaboration with Ephtah, an organization that not only supports production by financing cherries and materials, but also promotes social projects in the area. These include a craft center and a daycare center in the town of Idido, which strengthen the connection between coffee and community life.
Aricha symbolizes Ethiopia's coffee heritage: an origin that connects past and present, tradition and innovation, and a reminder of why Yirgacheffe remains the birthplace of some of the world's most prized coffees.
