SMS Plc was founded in 1998 by an owner with a solid decade of experience in coffee production in the picturesque regions of Sidamo and Yirgacheffee, Ethiopia. Since then, we have established a reputation as a trusted partner for diverse businesses around the world.
Our History in Ethiopia
In the heart of Ethiopia, SMS Plc has played a pioneering role in the specialty coffee market. From the very beginning, we have been committed to producing the highest quality coffee. We have our own processing plant and quality inspection laboratory that ensure each batch meets our exacting standards.
Our Contribution to Coffee Growing Communities
SMS Plc is more than a business. We are an integral part of the local coffee-growing communities. We operate two washing stations and a dry mill in the Sidamo region, as well as a washing station in Yirgacheffe. Our mills have been in operation for over 28 years, and we employ 54 full-time workers, plus over 140 day laborers. Our solid reputation extends through government agencies and funding institutions.
Recognition for Excellence
In 2007, we won first place in the Taste of Cupping Competition for our Washed Yirgacheffe coffee. This recognition underscores our commitment to excellence at every step of the production process.
