From Field to Cup: The Story of Juana Ramos and the Birth of 'San Gabriel – Peru'
Juana Ramos Gabriel, originally from the Paucarbamba district in the Huancavelica region, moved with her parents to the Mazamari district in the Junín region at age 6, motivated by job opportunities in the coffee harvest. Since childhood, Juana was immersed in the world of coffee, learning about its cultivation and handling, knowledge that would later be fundamental in the development of "San Gabriel – Perú," a renowned specialty coffee.
At 22, Juana married Antonio Valdez, with whom she started a family dedicated to harvesting coffee. After years of effort and savings, they managed to purchase a plot of land in the town of San Miguel de Edén, 1,600 meters above sea level, where they established the SAN GABRIEL farm. On this land, they dedicated themselves to planting coffee varieties such as Geisha, Caturra, and Catimor, giving rise to "San Gabriel – Perú," a product that today is synonymous with quality and tradition.
In recent years, Juana has participated in specialty coffee competitions, earning high scores and recognition for the quality of her "San Gabriel – Peru" coffee. This success has not only improved her family's income but has also significantly contributed to improving their quality of life. The SAN GABRIEL farm has become an example of self-improvement and dedication in the coffee world, standing out for its commitment to quality and excellence in every bean produced.
